Therapy for Healthcare Professionals
Support for the people who are used to being the support.
You’re the one people rely on.
At work, you’re making decisions, holding space, managing pressure, and showing up no matter what’s happening. But over time, that level of responsibility can start to catch up with you.
Maybe it looks like burnout, emotional exhaustion, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from yourself outside of work. Or maybe it’s harder to name—you just know something feels off.
Therapy for healthcare professionals is a space where you don’t have to be “on.”
You don’t have to have the answers.
You don’t have to hold it all together.
Common Challenges for Healthcare Professionals
The stress of healthcare work doesn’t just stay at work.
It often shows up as:

Burnout and emotional exhaustion

Anxiety and constant mental load

Compassion fatigue or secondary trauma

Irritability or feeling numb

Difficulty “turning off” after work

Relationship strain

Relationship strain

Loss of identity outside of your role
Burnout alone is widespread, with many clinicians reporting high levels of emotional exhaustion and stress .
You’re not the only one feeling this way—even if it feels like you are.

Why Healthcare Professionals Struggle to Seek Support
Even though you understand mental health, getting support for yourself can feel complicated.
Many healthcare professionals experience:
- Pressure to “handle it” on your own
- Fear of stigma or professional consequences
- Concerns about privacy or confidentiality
- Long, unpredictable schedules that make therapy hard to access
- A tendency to prioritize everyone else first
- Struggles with alcohol or substances due to high pressure work
Research shows healthcare workers are less likely to seek mental health care—even when struggling, often due to stigma and licensing concerns .
Therapy with The Rising Sun Counseling exists to make that step feel easier—and more normal.
Therapy for Physicians and Other Healthcare Workers
Over time, that can lead to:
Physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers face a level of pressure that’s hard to fully understand unless you’ve been in it.
Long hours. High stakes. Constant demand. Limited control.
- Chronic stress and burnout
- Anxiety around performance or decision-making
- Emotional detachment or numbness
- Moral distress or feeling conflicted about your work
- Difficulty slowing down—even outside of work
Physician mental health continues to be a major concern, with ongoing stress, burnout, and stigma around seeking help across the field .
Therapy gives you a space to step out of that pressure—and actually process what you’ve been carrying.

A Practical, Real-World Approach to Therapy
This isn’t therapy that feels vague or overly clinical. It’s grounded, direct, and focused on what actually helps in your day-to-day life.
Using approaches like:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Somatic and body-based work
- Relational therapy
We focus on:
- Understanding your patterns (without overanalyzing)
- Managing stress and emotional overload
- Improving communication and relationships
- Navigating burnout and career decisions
- Helping you feel more like yourself again
Research shows that targeted mental health interventions can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout in healthcare workers.
Therapy for Therapists
Including career counseling for therapists and mental health professionals
Being a therapist doesn’t make you immune to burnout—it often makes you more vulnerable to it. You’re holding space for others all day, managing emotional intensity, and navigating the pressure to show up fully present no matter what’s going on in your own life.
Therapy for therapists is a place where you can:
- Process burnout and emotional fatigue
- Explore career direction or sustainability
- Navigate imposter syndrome or self-doubt
- Work through countertransference or relational patterns
- Reconnect with why you started this work
Career counseling for therapists can also help you step back and ask:
- Is this workload sustainable?
- Do I want to stay in this setting or shift directions?
- How do I build a career that actually supports my life?
This is a space where you get to be the human—not the clinician.
